AUXILIARY - POSITION DESCRIPTIONS


The Auxiliary provides non-clinical services to patients, family members and guests; assists staff with tasks as needed; and acquires funds to be used as needed through the White County Medical Foundation.

  • Gift shop: interacts with patients, visitors and staff members.  Arrange gift shop merchandise.
  • Information desk:  help visitors and monitor the comfort of the waiting rooms.
  • Admitting:  accompany patients to their destinations in the hospital.
  • Materials management: assist in receiving and tagging supplies that come in to the hospital.
  • Guest services cart:  go to patient rooms and offer complimentary magazines and other reading materials.
  • Medical records:  assist in organizing documents.
  • Chaplain:  meet with patients who request clergy.

All of the funds earned by the hospital’s gift shops are returned to WCMC.  Recently, the Auxiliary used this money to help provide funding for an information system for the emergency department.  Donations have also been made to furnish items for the inpatient Hospice unit.  Annually, the Auxiliary provides school supplies at “A Day of Caring.”  In the past, the Auxiliary purchased a swallow study chair and newborn hearing screening equipment.  Auxiliary money is also used to provide yearly scholarships to 15 area students entering fields of study related to healthcare.
