Childbirth and family education classes are offered year round. Whether delivering a first child or one of many, our classes enhance and complement your doctors' advice.
Taught by certified experienced nurse instructors, these classes provide support and information that will take participants from pregnancy through the postpartum period and beyond.
Childbirth classes: Prepared childbirth classes are offered every month except December. Most classes are held on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30. Topics covered in the five classes include anatomy and physiology, the stages of labor, relaxation and breathing techniques, pain management, care of the newborn, and post-partum care. Refresher class: A refresher childbirth class is offered to people who have already experienced childbirth and only need a review of the labor and delivery process. These classes meet quarterly on a Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This class is offered at a $10 fee. Please call (501) 380-1260 to register.
Prenatal yoga: Free to all pregnant women. The classes are held on Tuesday evenings at 7:30. A registered yoga teacher instructs the classes, and a registered nurse is on site at all times. To participate, women must have written permission from their doctors and register for the class by calling the New Life Center at (501) 380- 1265.
Breastfeeding class: Breastfeeding classes are held monthly. Positioning and latch-on techniques are taught. The class meets the third Monday of each month from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Sibling class: Sibling classes are offered to children ages 2-12 to prepare them for their roles as older brothers and sisters. These classes are held monthly in conjunction with childbirth classes. Call (501) 380-1260 for dates and times.
Infant CPR/safety class: This class is offered quarterly. You will learn valuable life-saving techniques and safety techniques. Call (501) 380-1260 for more information.
